Something that would instantly set the World on fire. You know, the topic that leads to instant fame !

Nope, couldn’t do it.

Popularity is the name of the game around these parts. Hmmmm … nope …. can’t really think of anyone who doesn’t want their web site or blog to be trafficked by the entire nation. Throw in a couple million extra visits just for the heck of it.

I was sitting here wasting half of my day stressing out over a topic. Seriously ? This is what I was going to do on Sunday ? Oh … I mean aside from our monthly trip to Wal-Mart for food products, cat munchies, and cleaning supplies. Yep, aside from Wal-Mart … or maybe even including Wal-Mart … I have been beating myself up.

Forget it. Not worth it. I’ll settle for the second most popular web site on the Internet … just so I can get some sleep tonight.

So, I am going to address a few different topics with this post:

Bye, Bye 4th of July – Glad THAT is over ! Don’t get me wrong I love birthdays and I love this country (most of it) … heck, I even love fireworks. The problem is that my wife is allergic to sulfur. Her entire body can turn into one large hive (not a bee hive, thank goodness) with contact to sulfur. So with all of the fireworks lit in the streets and front yards she cannot go outside. One year we even stuffed towels under the doors. Luckly we had some wind this year so it cleared the smoke rather quickly and she had no problem going outside on the 5th. Just keep in mind … not everyone loves fireworks as much as you might.

Ally Bank – I see that GMAC ( the financing arm of General Motors ) has decided to open up a bank (Ally Bank). Great. Glad they were able to find the time … and money … to do so whilst in the midst of the fourth largest bankruptcy in US history. I am wondering, though, how much of the $49.9 Billion the US government gave to GM and how much of the $13.4 Billion the government gave to GMAC is being used to finance this little venture. Very interesting indeed. You can find Ally bank advertising on Yahoo and you can see where the bailout money is going on the CNN website.

Keep Your Head Above Water – We have large irrigation canals that run right smack dab through the center of town. These canals are above ground a lot of the distance and fenced only some of the distance. Mix that with temperatures that routinely reach into the 100’s and … yep we all need to cool down. The problem is these canals are death traps … they have sloped sides making it very difficult to get out, the pipes that remove the water from the canal are hidden under the water and have quite a suction, and then there are also the debris traps and grates. At least one person is killed almost every year in these canals. ( link to most recent story )

If you live in a warm climate please take the time to teach your children to swim. There may very well come a day when they will need it … either for their protection or their enjoyment. Also consider teaching them about water obstacles and other water dangers. I grew up in the country and know all about swimming in rivers and streams that have hidden dangers under the water. Never once did my parents just assume I knew what the heck I was doing. I was always warned and or forbidden. It might be one of the reasons that I am alive today …

That does it for today. have a look around the website … and have a little fun !

Comments and thoughts ALWAYS welcome !
