Minnesota Vikings	17
Pittsburgh Stelers	27

This win for the Steelers was either “luck” or darn good defense at the end. I’m gonna go with the defensive statement. If it wasn’t for 3 big … very big … stops by the steelers defense then this game would have easily went to the Vikings. ( an interception and a fumble returned for touchdowns) The Steelers offense didn’t really play “bad”, they just didn’t do a heck of a lot … and they are stil not running very much. Mendenhall the leading rusher for the Steelers only had 10 carries in this game. For that matter Adrian Peterson is not being fully utilized by the Vikings either. It would seem that Peterson should be carrying 25 times a game …

Fantasy Studs:
* Adrian Peterson (RB, Min) – 69 rush yards, 60 rec. yards, 1 TD
* Sidney Rice (WR, Min) – 136 yards
* Mike Wallace (WR, Pit) – 72 yards, 1 TD

San Diego Chargers	37
Kansas City Chiefs	7

Hmmm … no real surprise here. I’m really bored with the Chiefs to tell you the truth. Matt Cassel (QB, KC) has looked nothing like the multi-million dollar quarterback that he is supposed to be. Of course his surrounding cast isn’t very good either. To be honest, the Chargers are starting to bore me a little too … and I’m a fan. They are up one week down the next ….

Fantasy Studs:
* Philip Rivers (QB, SD) – 268 yards, 18 rush yards, 3 TDs
* Darren Sproles (RB, SD) – 41 rush yards, 58 rec. yards, 1 TD
* Vincent Jackson (WR, SD) – 142 yards, 1 TD

Green Bay Packers	31
Cleveland Browns	3

Cleveland really put on a show. This was impressive. They put up … let me check here … 139 total yards. Hmm … nevermind

Fantasy Studs:
* Aaron Rodgers (QB, GB) – 246 yards, 23 rush yards, 3 TDs – (155.4 rating)
* Donald Driver (WR, GB) – 84 yards, 1 TD

San Francisco 49ers	21
Houston Texans	24

After getting blown out in the first half (0-21) the 49ers came roaring back in the second half but in the end it was not to be. Shaun Hill (QB, SF) was ineffective and ended up being benched in favor of quarterback Alex Smith. Smith led the second half charge and looked rather good. Smith may actually be a better quarterback then he was months ago … but I think it may not last.

Fantasy Studs:
* Alex Smith (QB, SF) – 206 yards, 3 TD, 1 int. – (118 rating)
* Matt Schaub (QB, Hou) – 264 yards, 2 TDs – (116 rating)
* Steve Slaton (RB, Hou) – 67 rush yards, 22 rec. yards, 2 TDs, 1 fumb.
* Vernon Davis (TE, SF) – 93 yards, 3 TDs
* Owen Daniels (TE, Hou) – 123 yards, 1 TD

Indianapolis Colts	42
St. Louis Rams	6

Another very predictable game. No one really thought the Rams would win this right ? Marc Bulger had another real bad game (thinking replacement yet ?) with a QB rating of 37 on 2 interceptions and 140 yards.

Fantasy Studs:
* Peyton Manning (QB, Ind) – 235 yards, 3 TDs – (116 rating)
* Steven Jackson (RB, St.L) – 134 rush yards (5.8 yards a carry)
* Reggie Wayne (WR, Ind) – 83 yards, 1 TD

New England	Patriots 35
Tampa Bay Bucs	7

Ho hum … boring. This was not Josh Johnson’s (QB, TB) best day. He ended up tossing 3 interceptions and hanging a 29 rating in his trophy case. Tampa was just outclassed in this game … but I will throw a bone to the one person who caught a touchdown for the Bucs …

Fantasy Studs:
* Tom Brady (QB, NE) – 308 yards, 3 TDs, 2 ints. – (107 rating)
* Wes Welker (WR, NE) – 107 rec. yards, 6 rush yards, 1 TD
* Antonio Bryant (WR, TB) – 51 yards, 1 TD

Buffalo Bills	20
Carolina Panthers 9

Wow … Jake Delhomme (QB, Car) is killing this team. He threw 3 interceptions (no touchdowns) and ended with a 55 rating. Here is how bad Carolina stunk in this game … Buffalo had only 167 total yards to Carolina’s 425 and Carolina had twice as many first downs as Buffalo but only converted 3 of 12 third downs. The Panthers still couldn’t win this game. There really was only one stud in this game and that was DeAngelo Williams with 139 total yards and 1 TD. To think they only ran him 16 times …

Fantasy Studs:
* HA

NY Jets	38
Oakland Raiders	0

Well, this is typical for the Raiders this year. Is this something like their 5th shut-out so far ? Just kidding. The good thing is someone got smart and benched JaMarcus “Stinky” Russell (QB, Oak) during the game. He managed to toss 2 interceptions and rack up a splendid 31 rating before being replaced by Bruce Gradkowski. Apparently, though, he will be back on his throne next week. The Jets played a decent game … but then again they didn’t need to try very hard. Mark Sanchez (QB, NYJ) ran and threw for touchdown en route to a 114 rating on 143 passing yards.

Fantasy Studs:
* Thomas Jones (RB, NYJ) – 121 rush yards, 3 rec. yards, 1 TD
* Shonn Greene (RB, NYJ) – 144 rush yards, 2 TDs

Chicago Bears	10
Cincinnati Bengals	45

Cincy just demolished the Bears. ‘Bout all you can say about this. It is surprising to me because I though Chicago would put up more of a fight. The bengals had twice as many first downs and a 13 minute time of possession advantage over the Bears. Jay Cutler (QB, Chi) did not have a good day throwing 3 interceptions against 1 touchdown and ending with a 55 rating.

Fantasy Studs:
* Carson Palmer (QB, Cin) – 233 yards, 5 TDs – (146 rating)
* Cedric Benson (RB, Cin) – 189 yards, 1 TD
* Devin Hester (WR, Chi) – 101 yards, 1 TD, 1 fumb.
* Chad Ochocinco (WR, Cin) – 118 yards, 2 TDs

This post will be updated Monday night with the Monday Night Game results.

MONDAY NIGHT GAME

Denver Broncos	34
San Diego Chargers	23

This game came down to special teams play. Eddie Royal (WR, Den) returned a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns and Darren Sproles (RB, SD)returned a punt for a touchdown. Denver has now taken a VERY commanding lead of the AFC West Division.

Fantasy Studs:
* Kyle Orton (QB, Den) – 229 yards, 11 rush yards, 2 TDs
* Tony Scheffler (TE, Den) – 101 yards, 1 TD
* Eddie Royal (WR, Den) – 2 return TD’s – if your league counts them

Pittsburgh Steelers 27
Cleveland Browns 14

Not an overly surprising result here. What IS somewhat surprising is that the Ravens and Bengals also lost today so the Steelers move into a 2 way tie with the bengals for first place in the division. Big Ben Roethlisberger (QB, Pit) had another big day today (over 400 yards) as the Steelers stuck to the air and again failed to have any single rusher over 100 yards. Pit racked up 543 total yards to Cleveland’s 197 and also controled the clock 13 minutes longer then the Browns. What is scary is that Pit had FOUR turnovers, with 3 fumbles coming on their last 3 possessions of the third quarter.

Fantasy Studs:
* Ben Roethlisberger (QB, Pit) – 417 yards, 2 TDs, 1 int., 1 fumb. – (113 rating)
* Hines Ward (WR, Pit) – 159 yards, 1 TD
* Santonio Holmes (WR, Pit) – 104 yards

Houston Texans 28
Cincinnati Bengals 17

This is somewhat shocking. With the way the Bengals had been playing I figured they might just roll right over Houston. Aside from the second quarter, the Bengals put up no numbers on the scoreboard. Matt Schaub (QB, Hou) just tore up Cincy while Houston gained nearly 200 more total yards and held on to the ball 13 minutes longer then the Bengals.

Fantasy Studs:
* Matt Schaub (QB, Hou) – 392 yards, 4 TDs, 1 int. – (124 rating)
* Steve Slaton (RB, Hou) – 43 rush yards, 102 rec. yards, 1 TD, 1 fumb
* Andre Johnson (WR, Hou) – 135 yards
* Owen Daniels (TE, Hou) – 78 yards, 2 TDs

Detroit Lions	0
Green Bay Packers	26

Yep … who didn’t expect this game to turn out this way. Nothing really to talk about, except to mention the hamstring injury to Daunte Culpepper (QB, Det) that forced third stringer Stanton to enter the game. The scary part is that aside from the first quarter the Packers didn’t / couldn’t score a touchdown. Interesting.

Fantasy Studs:
* Aaron Rodgers (QB, GB) – 358 yards, 2 TDs, 1 int., 1 fumb.
* Donald Driver (WR, GB) – 107 yards

St. Louis Rams	20
Jacksonville Jaguars	23

OVERTIME. This game really came down to a battle of the running backs with the Jags chewing up over 200 more total yards then the Rams.

Fantasy Studs:
* Maurice Jones-Drew (RB, Jac) – 133 rush yards, 45 rec. yards, 3 TDs, 1 fumb
* Steven Jackson (RB, StL) – 50 rush yards, 78 rec. yards
* Mike Sims-Walker (WR, Jac) – 120 yards
* Torry Holt – (WR, Jac) – 101 yards

Baltimore Ravens	31
Minnesota Vikings	33

This game featured a rather wild 4th quarter … 34 points scored in 15 minutes … that saw the Ravens come storming back and almost win the game. This game featured a lot of fantasy studs and over 800 yards of total offense …

Fantasy Studs:
* Joe Flacco (QB, Bal) – 385 yards, 2 TDs – (109 rating)
* Brett Favre (QB, Min) – 278 yards, 3 TDs – (136 rating)
* Ray Rice (RB, Bal) – 77 rush yards, 117 rec. yards, 2 TDs
* Adrian Peterson (RB, Min) – 143 rush yards, 23 rec. yards
* Derrick Mason (WR, Bal) – 97 yards, 1 TD
* Sidney Rice (WR, Min) – 176 yards
* Visanthe Shianco (TE, Min) – 48 yards, 2 TDs

NY Giants	27
New Orleans Saints	48

Smashed. The battle of the unbeaten teams goes to the Saints. New York just could not stop them. New Orleans had almost 500 total yards and had a time of possession advantage of 13 minutes. Eli Manning (QB, NYG) did not have a very good day completing only 45% of his passes and ending with a 61 rating, 1 TD, i int., 1 fumb. There were definitely some studs in this game … so let’s just get to them.

Fantasy Studs:
* Drew Brees (QB, NO) – 369 yards, 4 TDs – (156 rating)
* Hakeem Nicks (WR, NYG) – 114 yards, 1 TD
* Marques Colston (WR, NO) – 166 yards, 1 TD
* Lance Moore (WR, NO) – 78 yards, 1 TD
* Robert Meachem (WR, NO) – 70 yards, 1 TD

Carolina Panthers	28
Tampa Bay Bucs	21

Carolina finally found their lost running game … and a good thing too because Jake Delhomme (QB, Car) stunk the place up again. Delhomme finished with a 42 rating on only 65 yards and 2 ints. The Bucs … well … I just really don’t know what to think of them.

Fantasy Studs:
* DeAngelo Williams (RB, Car) – 152 rush yards, 20 rec. yards, 2 TDs
* Jonathan Stewart (RB, Car) – 110 yards, 1 TD

Kansas City Chiefs	14
Washington Redskins	6

This was, basically, and evenly matched stink factory. Since their were no touchdowns in this game, there really were no true “fantasy studs”, so I am going to skip that section. I will make a mention that Dwayne Bowe (WR, KC) had 109 receiving yards and Clinton Portis (RB, Wash) had 109 rush yards and a fumble. Portis, by the way, may or may not have an ankle injury ? Good for field goal kickers I suppose …

Fantasy Studs:
*

Philadelphia Eagles 9
Oakland Raiders	13

Whaaaa ? Oakland won ? Huh. The Raiders “D” played well and JaMarcus Russell (QB, Oak) picked up his game … ever so slightly. Russell ended with a 68 rating on 224 yards, 1 TD and 2 ints. Hey … at least he didn’t fumble. If you look at the stats you will find that almost all the passes with to the TE and running backs. The check-down or dump-off receivers. The wide receivers really were not a factor. Don’t know if that was because of Russell or because of the Philly secondary … but it might be bad if Russell is playing scared …

Fantasy Studs:
* Brian Westbrook (RB, Phil) – 50 rush yards, 91 rec. yards.
* Zach Miller (TE, Oak) – 139 yards, 1 TD

Arizona Cardinals 27
Seattle Seahawks 3

The Seahawks just got man handled in this game. Down right pitiful performance gaining only 128 total yards, 0 for 11 3rd down conversion, and losing the time of possession battle by 25 minutes. Larry Fitzgerald (WR, Ari.) put in a good performance nailing 100 receiving yards and 1 TD.

Fantasy Studs:
Did you read the paragraph above ?
*

Tennessee Titans 0
New England Patriots	59

Opppss … wipe out ! Wow, I think this can definitely be considered a new low for the Titans. Kerry Collins (QB, Ten) ended with a pathetic 4.9 rating on NEGATIVE 7 yards. As for the Patriots … they rolled with ease. Tom Brady (QB, NE) broke a record by throwing 5 touchdown passes in a single quarter. He probably could have broken the single game TD record if he didn’t leave the game … but then again, why risk injury ?

Fantasy Studs:
* Tom Brady (QB, NE) – 380 yards, 6 TDs – (152.8 rating)
* Chris Johnson (RB, Ten) – 128 rush yards
* Laurence Maroney (RB, NE) – 123 rush yards, 10 rec. yards, 1 TD
* Wes Welker (WR, NE) – 150 yards, 2 TDs
* Randy Moss (WR, NE) – 129 yards, 3 TDs

MONDAY NIGHT GAME …

NY Jets 27
Miami Dolphins 31

I don’t really know if this is a “surprise” or not, but I probably would have put money on the jets in this game. Chad Henne (QB, Mia) had an excellent game with a 130 QB rating and no turnovers while Miami continued to roll with the Wildcat formation. Mark Sanchez (QB, NYJ) had an OK game with no turnovers but only 170 yards on a 50% completion rate. I do not know where the Jets’ defense went to in this game …

Fantasy Studs:
* Chad Henne (QB, Mia) – 241 yards, 2 TDs – (and no sacks ?)
* Ronnie Brown (RB, Mia) – 42 yards, 2 TDs
* Thomas Jones (RB, NYJ) – 74 yards, 14 rec. yards, 2 TDs

Pittsburgh Steelers 28
Detroit Lions 20

Somewhat of an expected result to this game … but I was surprised that the stats were rather even. It was, by no means, a “blowout”. I was also surprised that the Steelers ran Rashard Mendenhall a total of only 15 times … for 77 yards. I figured he would end the day with 25+ carries. Big Ben (QB, Pit) had another nice day completing nearly 77% of his passes. Hines Ward (WR, Pit) added to his very nice season with 7 receptions, 85 yards, and 1 TD. Rookie Mike Wallace (WR, Pit) continues to shine as the Steelers 3rd wide receiver.

Injury Note:Calvin Johnson left this game with some sort of knee injury. Details are light right now …

Fantasy Studs:
* Ben Roethlisberger (QB, Pit) – 277 yards, 3 TDs, 1 int. – (124 rating)

Cincinnati Bengals	17
Baltimore Ravens	14

Well, I guess the Raven’s are crashing back down to Earth … and the Bengals I climbing slowly. The Bengals have now taken sole possession of the division lead.

Fantasy Studs:
Only one … and it was a running back from Cincy ?
* Cedric Benson (RB, Cin) – 120 rush yards, 16 rec. yards, 1 TD

Cleveland Browns	6
Buffalo Bills	3

This one was a yawner. Are the Bills really this bad ? How the heck does Cleveland win this game with a QB (Derek Anderson) that almost tosses a “no-hitter” … 2 completions, 23 yards, 1 int., a 15 rating. I feel sick.

Fantasy Studs:
Do not make me laugh ! Actually, both starting running back racked-up some yards, but I am not going to include them as “studs” do to the pitiful score of this game.
*

Washington Redskins	17
Carolina Panthers	20

Check it out … the panthers are on the war path. They won one ! Looking at the stat line this game looked like it was either “boring” or a “defensive struggle”. Don’t know ’cause I didn’t see it. I can tell you that he Panthers’ are still looking for their lost rushing attack … Stewart and Williams are not looking very good so far this year. As for the Redskins … they played a decent game and Jason Campbell (104 rating) played mistake free … but they just cannot seem to do ENOUGH to win games (198 total yards).

Fantasy Studs:
Oh I would really like to pass on this one … but I actually did find a good performance …
* Clinton Portis (RB, Wash) – 57 rush yards, 17 rec. yards, 2 TDs

Dallas Cowboys	26
Kansas City Chiefs	20

The Cowboys almost lost this one. It was slipping away fast in the fourth quarter Miles “I’ll just run” Austin (WR, Dal) showed up in the 4th quarter and overtime. Miles ended with a monster day … but be careful before you add him to your fantasy roster as he was only filling in for Roy Williams. We’ll have to wait and see if this performance earns him anything long term …

Fantasy Studs:
* Tony Romo (QB, Dal) – 351 yards, 2 TDs, 1 fumb.
* Tashard Choice (RB, Dal) – 92 rec. yards, 1 TD
* Miles Austin (WR, Dal) – 250 rec. yards, 2 TDs

Oakland Raiders	7
New York Giants	44

Someone, please, remove the Raiders from the NFL. I don’t think they have any clue as to what they are doing. They amassed a wonderful 124 total yards today with 7 first downs. JaMarcus Russell (QB, Oak) actually ended with an 85 rating, no interceptions, and a completion percentage of 61. Impressive … for him … until you realize he only threw for 100 yards for the entire game and he lost 3 fumbles. Psst … not impressed. Oakland was so bad that manning only had to play a half.

Fantasy Studs:
Only one …
* Ahmad Bradshaw (RB, NYG) – 110 rush yards, 55 rec. yards, 2 TDs

Tampa Bay Bucs	14
Philadelphia Eagles	33

Again … I would have to say that the outcome was rather inevitable here. Donovan McNabb (QB, Phi) returned from injury to have a fantastic day (157 rating, 76% completion) … and so did Jeremy Maclin (WR, Phi) filling in for Kevin Curtis. About the only bright spot for Tampa was TE Kellen Winslow.

Fantasy Studs:
* Donovan McNabb (QB, Phi) – 264 yards, 30 rush yards, 3 TDs
* Jeremy Maclin (WR, Phi) – 142 yards, 2 TDs
* Kellen Winslow (TE, TB) – 102 yards, 2 TDs

Minnesota Vikings 38
St. Louis Rams	10

Hmmm … nothing really surprising here. The Vikings received the gift of 4 turnovers from the Rams … 3 fumbles and an interception. Stat wise it was actually a pretty boring game. Adrian Peterson came close enough for “stud” status …

Fantasy Studs:
* Adrian Peterson (RB, Min) – 69 rush yards, 6 rec. yards, 2 TDs

Atlanta	Falcons 45
San Francisco 49ers	10

Can you hear “Run Roddy, run” ? The Falcons pretty much smashed the talk of the 49ers being ready for the playoffs. Don’t get me wrong, they are much improved over the years, but they need some more stability and probably a little help at the QB position. As for the Falcons … I would be shocked if they did not make the post season. Matt Ryan (QB, Atl) seems to have been a fantastic draft choice and it looks like he loves the off-season addition of TE Tony Gonzalez.

Fantasy Studs:
* Matt Ryan (QB, Atl) – 329 yards, 3 TD s (1 rushing), 1 int
* Michael Turner (RB, Atl) – 97 rush yards, 3 TDs
* Roddy White (WR, Atl) – 210 rec. yards, 2 TDs

Houston Texans	21
Arizona Cardinals	28

I still want to type “Oilers” after “Houston”. Anyway … the Texans came roaring back near the end of this game and if it wasn’t for the Matt Schaub (QB, Hou) interception with 2 minutes left they may have won. But it wasn’t to be. Both quarterbacks (Warner for Arizona) had good games as each were over 300 yards and 2 TDs each.

Fantasy Studs:
* Andre Johnson (WR, Hou) – 101 yards, 2 TDs
* Larry Fitzgerald (WR, Ari) – 79 yards, 2 TDs

Welcome to the week 4 recap of the NFL Football season !

As I announced on my Facebook page, I was out of town on Sunday so I was not able to do this update at that time. Since most of you have probably already read the updates on the NFL page or Yahoo, I am probably going to whip through this column rather quickly this week. Back to full steam for week 5 !

Consider leaving a comment at the end of the post and let all of us know how your Fantasy Football team is doing !

San Diego Chargers 28
Pittsburgh	Steelers 38

I obviously watched this game since I am a Steelers fan. The Steelers played a great first half but started making mistakes in the second half that let the Chargers get back into the game. San Diego is hurting in the rushing department but they definately have a QB and receivers to help make up for it … but what is wrong with their defense. On paper the Chargers D should be a lot better. For the Steelers they seem to finally have a rushing attack with Rashard Mendenhall and Ben Roethlisberger is having a great year in tearms of yards and accuracy, but he need to cut down on the interceptions. I did see some drops be usually reliable Steelers receivers. The Steelers defense and special teams seem to fall asleep after the half. Maybe their pillows need to be taken away ? Pitt’s secondary is only average at best without Troy in there. Steelers had a large 2 to 1 Time of possession advantage.

I know many are probably going to run-out and pickup Mendenhall for their fantasy teams … but be careful. Willie Parker, as of right now, has not lost his starting running back designation and he should be coming back within a couple of weeks. As of right now a “running back by committee” approach is what they may be looking at in Pitt.

Fantasy Studs:
* Philip Rivers (QB, SD) – 254 yards, 3 TDs, 1 fumb. – (107 rating)
* Ben Roethlisberger (QB, Pit) – 333 yards, 2 TDs, 1 fumb. – (128 rating)
* Rashard Mendenhall (RB, Pit) – 165 rush yards, 26 rec. yards, 2 TDs
* Mewelde Moore (RB, Pit) – 2 rush yards, 6 pass yards, 31 rec. yards, 2 TDs (1 passing)
* Antonio Gates (TE, SD) – 124 yards, 2 TDs
* Heath Miller (TE, Pit) – 70 yards, 2 TDs

Detroit Lions	24
Chicago Bears 48

Wow … surprise … the Bears beat the Lions. Boring. I’m only including Cutler as a “fantasy stud” because of his 3 TDs … but he passed for only 140 yards. If your fantasy league includes return yards, then Knox was probably a stud for you also …

Fantasy Studs:
* Jay Cutler (QB, Chi) – 141 yards, 3 TDs (1 rush)
* Kevin Smith (RB, Det) – 30 rush yards, 21 rec. yards, 2 TDs
* Calvin Johnson (WR, Det) – 131 rec. yards, 12 rush yards
* Matt Forte (RB, Chi) – 121 rush yards, 19 rec. yards, 1 TD

Cincinnati Benglas	23
Cleveland Brown	20

Nothing much to talk about here … Cleveland is just “underwhelming” are they not ? Think they need to deal with the quarterback position.

Fantasy Studs:
* Carson Palmer (QB, Cin) – 230 yards, 20 rush yards, 2 TDs, 1 int.
* Chad Ochocinco (WR, Cin)- 24 yards, 2 TDs

Oakland Raiders	6
Houston Texans	29

Can someone PLEASE tell the Raiders that they are stinking the place up ! Why in the heck are they not pulling JaMarcus Russell ? His season to date rating is, um, 42 … and he has only tossed 1 TD in 4 games. Add on top of that Darren McFadden now has a knee injury that requires surgery and is expected to miss 2 to 4 weeks. My guess is that he will not return until after the bye week …

Fantasy Studs:
Only one in this pathetic game …
* Steve Slaton (RB, Hou) – 65 rush yards, 24 rec. yards, 2 TDs, 1 fumb.

Seattle	17
Indianapolis	34

This one was rather predictable wasn’t it ? I do need to mention that Seneca Wallace is playing “decent” in replacement of Hasselbeck … but he did have 2 fumbles in this game. There were not any all-out-studs in this game, but a couple passable grades for Indy. I am surprised that some of the Colt’s numbers were not larger …

Fantasy Studs:
* Peyton Manning (QB, Ind) – 353 yards, 2 TDs, 1 int. – (107 rating)
* Reggie Wayne (WR, Ind) – 74 yards, 1 TD

Tennessee Titans	17
Jacksonville Jaguars	37

I don’t know what is going on. The Titans just seem to be falling further and further. I know that they want to keep Kerry Collins in at QB but what is the point ? You are 0 – 4, maybe it is time to stick Young in there and see if he has grown-up any …. On the other side … I feel like I’m on a roller coaster with the Jaguars …

Fantasy Studs:
* David Garrard (QB, Jac) – 323 yards, 38 rush yards, 3 TDs, 1 fumb. – (126 rating)
* Mike Sims-Walker (WR, Jac) – 91 yards, 2 TDs

NY Giants	27
Kansas City Chiefs	16

No real surprise here … these are the Chiefs we are talking about. Matt Cassel was sacked another 5 times in this game so he is probably soaking in a tub somewhere today. The “surprising” part of the game (not really) is that the time of possession was about equal but the Giants gained twice as many total yards.

Eli Manning has swelling in his right foot / heal that could cause him to play in pain for the foreseeable future. Keep and eye on the injury as I am sure Eli is a start in 99% of fantasy leagues

Fantasy Studs:
* Eli Manning (QB, NYG) – 292 yards, 3 TDs, 1 int
* Steve Smith (WR, NYG) – 134 yards, 2 TDs

Baltimore Ravens	21
New England Patriots	27

From what I heard (I didn’t see this game) it was pretty wild. I don’t know if I am happy that the Pats won, but I am happy that the Ravens lost. The Ravens are a darn good team and they were very close to pulling this one out. New England did have a 10 minute time of possession advantage. If it wasn’t for that the outcome probably would have been very different.

Fantasy Studs:
No “studs” … but some decent performances
* Ray Rice (RB, Bal) – 103 rush yards, 49 rec. yards
* Derrick Mason (WR, Bal) – 88 yards, 1 TD

Tampa Bay Bucs	13
Washington Redskins	16

Another game that would put me to sleep if I had to watch it. Neither team could crack 300 total yards … and I don’t think it was because of defense.

Fantasy Studs:
Don’t make me laugh. I will give you one that came somewhat close …
* Santana Moss (WR, Was) – 74 yards, 1 TD

Buffalo Bills	10
Miami Dolphins	38

Trent Edwards was owned and Miami ran the ball. Pretty much the entire story here. The Dolphins ended with a 15 minute and 130 yard advantage. Chad Henne played a mistake free game, albeit boring with only 115 pass yards.

Fantasy Studs:
* Ronnie Brown (RB, Mia) – 115 yards, 2 TDs

NY Jets	10
New Orleans Saints	24

OK, well, the Jets were bound to come back down to Earth sometime. Mark Sanchez tossed 3 interceptions, fumbled once, and ended with a 27 passer rating. With that it is nearly impossible to win a game … The Saints sorta just strolled through this game with 2 defensive touchdowns and a good rushing attack.

Fantasy Studs:
* Pierre Thomas (RB, NO) – 86 rush yards, 46 rec. yards, 1 TD

Dallas Cowboys 10
Denver Broncos	17

Up and down. The roller coaster ride courtesy of the Dallas Cowboys. I still haven’t figured out Tony Romo yet. I don’t know if I would be comfortable with him as a starting QB. For that matter, I don’t really know how I feel about the Broncos. Certainly not that the Broncos are bad, but down in my gut I get a feeling that they don’t warrant a 4-0 start. Maybe a slide coming on ?

Fantasy Studs:
* Kyle Orton (QB, Den) – 243 yards, 2 TDs
* Brandon Marshall (WR, Den) – 91 yards, 2 TDs

St. Louis Rams	0
San Francisco 49ers	35

Hey check out the Rams ! Oh, they were shut out ? Never mind. Glen Coffee (RB, SF) did a decent job of filling in for Frank Gore, but he should have been able to average more then 3.1 yards a carry against the Rams … Boller (QB, StL) wasn’t very good (48 rating) as the Rams were able to gain only 177 yards in 30 minutes of possession.

Fantasy Studs:
Ya know, there really were none. I’m just gonna leave this blank ….
