Turbulent Ocean – The Beach Below Trinidad California

>>> See A Larger Photograph <<<
This photo is from this absolutely wonderful beach we visit just South of Trinidad in Northern California. We usually camp at Patrick’s Point Campground and then drive to this beach during the day. It is right off the coastal road about 1/2 way between the wonderful town of Trinidad and Arcata. The beach is unmarked so there are very few people on it. There is a small stream that enters the ocean here and it is filled with jasper, quartz, agates, and even some California Jade. We usually spend all day laying on the beach, tide-pooling, and rockhounding.
I believe we snapped this picture in 1997 when we were on our Summer camping trip. The ocean is usually not this turbulent here … this weekend just happened to be a “red flag” day. High wind and turbulent seas definitely make for some cool pics !
