Entrecard Sold … Now What ?

July 17, 2009, Posted by Christopher at 2:25 am

So I am making my rounds to some of my favorite blog spots today and what do I find …. Entrecard (ec) laying face-down on the sidewalk. Flopping around like a fish out of water. Is it dying ?

OK … so maybe I have a wild imagination …

But none-the less, Entrecard had officially been “sold” (debatable) to ZipRunner, Inc. The first thought that ran threw my mind … was this a good thing or a bad thing ? ( See Turnip’s Post On EC Being Sold – More info on ZipRunner )

As I am sure you can tell, this blog DOES NOT have Entrecard on it like some of my older blogs. When I built this blog I decided that I could no longer trust Entrecard. There was the entire paid ads fiasco. There was an under the table, secret formula being cooked-up to supposedly help lower the bounce rate … but it was probably really just a way to lower credit totals. Let’s not forget that they completely stopped answering support tickets MONTHS ago, collected people’s Social Security numbers and then never paid them for their credits, and abandoned their support forums. Take all of that and add on top of it that whenever I purchased advertising (with credits) there was a HORRID click-thru rate. Basically wasn’t worth advertising thru them.

So now we have this ” ZipRunner, Inc ” company running the show. Will it be any better … I don’t know. I can’t find ANY information about this company. In this day and age, it is rare to find an “internet investment” company that does not even have a website. Do they know how to run or program a website ? We’ll see.

Oh, and don’t forget … this secret company has all of your social security numbers now. That is if you signed-up for the cash out. Kinda creepy.

Well we’ll wait and see what happens … but I don’t think I am going to hold my breath.

Instead of holding my breath I going to continue advertising through my normal locations:

  • Adgitize Advertising – I would highly, HIGHLY suggest that you consider joining Adgitize. You can earn real money … not a lot but a couple bucks a month … with none of the games. You can just be a publisher if you would like, but if you decide to pay $14 for 1 month of advertising you can easily receive 1,500 to 3,000 hits a month. It is a lot like Entrecard but our bounce rate is actually 10 to 15% lower from Adgitize sites.
  • CMF Ads – You can advertise on a blog for as little as $0.25 for an entire month. Very low cost advertising and REAL clicks.

I just put ad on adgitize on other blog but not put up the adgitize code. Is it a must? Stil a newbie as for entrecard we just need to stick around and see.

Greetings TH … thanks for visiting my blog.

You do not need to place the publisher code on your website (ie: display the ads on your site) if you purchased advertising from Adgitize.

To double check this, you may want to post this question on the forum on the Adgitize website.

I wonder what the future holds for Entrecard. I’m not too fussed, because the benefits are minimal so if I don’t like it, I won’t lose much by pulling it from my blog.

Agreed … I too am not THAT concerned. I have been considering pulling it from my other blogs anyway. Like I said in the post, the effectiveness of advertising was about nill. I’ll hang out for a little bit just to see if they have anything interesting to add.
